New Home Construction Chattanooga, TN

Ground-up residential construction in the Chattanooga area, framed and finished by a crew you can call directly.

Based in Hixson, TN●English & Spanish lines

New home construction in Chattanooga is a sequence, and the order matters. Site work and concrete come first, then the structural frame, then the roof, then everything that makes the house livable. Get a step wrong early, such as a slab that is out of level or a wall that is out of plumb, and every trade that follows pays for it.

The photo at the top of this page shows the stage where a house stops being a plan and starts looking like one: engineered roof trusses set across the framed walls. It is a stage we know how to manage, because everything below it, the slab and the walls, has to be right for the roof to sit true.

Garcia Martinez TrueCraft Builders LLC builds residential homes from the slab up, with concrete, framing and finish carpentry handled by our own crew. If you have a lot and a plan, or you are earlier in the process and want to understand what is realistic, call the main line in Spanish or the English line.

Signs You Are Ready to Build a New Home

  • You own a buildable lot or are close to purchasing one and want to know what building on it involves.
  • You have a set of plans from a designer, a plan service or an architect.
  • Resale homes in your price range do not have the room your household needs.
  • You want a house that is new in every system instead of one with deferred maintenance.
  • A family property is available and you want to put a home on it.
  • You have been quoted by a builder and want a second opinion on scope or sequence.

How We Build a New Home

  1. Review the lot and the plansWe check the plans against the real lot: slope, access, drainage and where utilities come in.
  2. Site prep and concreteClearing, grading and pouring the footings and slab or foundation, the base every later step depends on.
  3. Frame the structureFloor systems, exterior walls and interior partitions go up, then the roof framing, trusses or rafters, is set and braced.
  4. Close it inSheathing, roofing and exterior openings make the house weather-tight so interior work can proceed in any weather.
  5. Interior finish and punch listInterior finishes go in, and we walk the house with you to catch and correct what is not right.

What Affects the Cost of Building a New Home

Every home is priced to its plan and its lot. These are the main reasons two houses of similar size cost different amounts.

Square footage and footprintSize matters, but footprint shape matters too: a simple rectangle is cheaper to frame and roof than a plan with many corners.
Foundation and site workRed-clay soil, slopes and drainage needs affect grading, footings and any retaining required.
Roof designA trussed roof with steep pitches, multiple ridges or large spans needs more material and more labor than a simple gable.
Selections and finishesCabinetry, flooring, windows, siding and fixtures are where budgets are most often won or lost.
Permits and inspectionsRequirements vary by location, and the inspection schedule affects how the work is sequenced.

Why Build Your Home With Us

We build from the concrete up with our own crew, so the foundation, framing and finish work follow in order without waiting on outside schedules. Questions about a detail on your plans get answered by the people framing your house.

Many of our clients speak Spanish at home. Our main line is answered in Spanish, and a family decision this big deserves a conversation everyone can follow.

Where We Do This Work

We build homes in Hixson and across the greater Chattanooga area. Lots north of the river around Hixson and Soddy-Daisy are often a mix of cleared and wooded parcels, and each gets looked at individually.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you build from my plans or do I need to use yours?

Bring your own plans if you have them. We will review them with you against the lot, the budget and what is buildable. If you are still earlier in the process, call and we can talk through the options.

What is the first step when building a new home?

Understanding the lot: where it sits, how it drains, what utilities are available and whether the plan fits. That review comes before any pricing or scheduling.

How are roof trusses different from stick framing?

Trusses are factory-built triangulated roof frames set across the walls, as in the photo at the top of this page. Stick framing builds the roof piece by piece on site. The right choice depends on the design and span.

Can you build on a lot I do not own yet?

Yes, we are happy to look at a lot before you buy and tell you what we see. Slope, drainage and utilities can change the cost of building on it.

Do you handle just the structure or the whole house?

We cover the whole build from the concrete through the finish work, and we can discuss which parts you want us to take on.
